Green Party of Lebanon statement about Beirut Port Explosion / حزب الخضر : ان الاوان لمحاسبة الفاسدين والمقصرين والمستهترين بارواح اللبنانيين

The Beirut Port explosion resulted in more than a hundred and fifty casualties and counting, thousands of injured, hundreds missing, in addition to a mass destruction of public properties, buildings, homes, companies and institutions ranging from the Beirut Port all the way out to Beirut’s surroundings, thus depriving many of their life savings. The fire and the smoke from the explosion lead to polluting the air with toxic chemicals. The explosion is a consequence of negligence, disregard for the safety of the Lebanese population, mismanagement, corruption and failure to comply with the public safety conditions. The whole mix made the capital, Beirut, afflicted, distressed, as if the suffering from the suffocating financial and economic conditions and the COVID pandemic were not enough.

What happened makes us, the Green Party of Lebanon, wonder, as do all of the Lebanese population, about the reasons that lead to this national catastrophe. How did it happen? Why was this dangerous chemical cargo emptied at the Beirut Port, and kept there since 2014, although it was known that it’s dangerous? Why weren’t the public safety conditions complied to when storing it? Who benefited from its storage? Who are the ones responsible for this disaster? Many questions that can only be answered through a transparent investigation carried out by professional experts who would reveal the truth of what happened to the Lebanese public, specifying the responsibilities for what happened in order for justice to be served without any consideration of those with influence and interests. The time has come to hold responsible all the corrupt, negligent people who hold no regard for the lives of the Lebanese population, nor for the public and private properties.

The Green Party of Lebanon offers its condolences to the families of the martyrs who lost their lives, we wish quick recovery for the wounded, and we salute the Lebanese people who showed solidarity with their brothers and sisters. Everytime Lebanon is exposed to a disaster, everyone extends their helping hands to heal the wounds and reduce the impact of the disaster and its effects. We also would like to thank everyone who contributed and still is contributing to provide assistance for Lebanon’s resurgence from this catastrophe, but the primary responsibility remains on the state and its institutions in facing the consequences of the disaster and providing all that is necessary to erase the effects of the tragedy and its remnants.

وطنية – اعتبر حزب الخضر اللبناني في بيان ان “الإنفجار الذي حصل في مرفا بيروت و حصد المئات من الجرحى والآلاف من الضحايا والمفقودين وألحق دمار كليا وجزئيا في الممتلكات العامة والأبنية والمنازل والمؤسسات في بيروت ومحيطها وحرم الكثيرين من جنى العمر، وكذلك العاملين في مرفا بيروت والشركات المحيطه وأدى الى تلويث للهواء بالدخان السام الذي خلفه الحريق والانفجار كل ذالك نتيجة الاهمال والاستهتار بسلامة اللبنانيين وسؤ الادارة والفساد وعدم مراعاة شروط السلامة العامة هذا كله جعل العاصمة بيروت منكوبة ومفجوعة وكأن معاناة اللبنانيين من الأوضاع المالية والإقتصادية الخانقة وجائحة الكورنا لاتكفيهم “.
وقال :” ماحدث يجعلنا في حزب الخضر اللبناني نتسائل كما الكثيرين عن الأسباب التي أدت الى هذه الكارثة الوطنية كيف حدثت ؟ لماذا تم تفريغ هذه الحمولة من المواد الكيمائية الخطرة وابقائها ضمن حرم المرفا لفترة طويلة منذ العام 2014 على الرغم من خطورتها ؟ لماذا لم تراع شروط السلامة العامة في تخزينها ؟ من المستفيد من بقائها ؟ ومن هم المسؤولين اللذين تسببوا في هذة الكارثة ؟ أسئلة كثيرة برسم نتائج تحقيق شفاف مطلوب إجراءه من قبل خبراء محترفين يكشفون للبنانيين حقيقة ماجرى ويحددون المسؤوليات لما حدث لكي تأخذ العدالة مجراها بدون أي مراعاة لأصحاب النفوذ والمصالح آن الأوان لمحاسبة كل الفاسدين والمقصرين والمستهترين بأرواح اللبنانيين وبالممتلكات العامة والخاصة
نحن في حزب الخضر اللبناني نتقدم بالعزاء من عائلات الشهداء الذين استشهدوا ونتمنى الشفاء العاجل للجرحى ونحي اللبنانيين الذين اظهروا تضامنا” مع شركائهم في الوطن كما في كل مرة يتعرض فيها لبنان الى كارثة ، يهب الجميع لمد يد المساعدة في بلسمة الجراح والتخفيف من وقع الكارثة وآثارها ونشكر كل من ساهم ويساهم بتقديم المساعدة لنهوض من جديد ولكن تبقى المسؤولية الأولى على عاتق الدولة ومؤسساتها في مواجهة نتائج الكارثة و توفيركل مايلزم لمحو آثار النكبة ومخلفاتها”.
