Naturaleza de la biodiversidad en la zona<\/span>:Los bosques de la cuenca del Congo constituyen el segundo macizo m\u00e1s grande de bosque primario tropical ininterrumpido despu\u00e9s del Amazonas, alberga la turbera tropical m\u00e1s extensa del mundo, aproximadamente 10.000 especies de plantas tropicales y especies en peligro de extinci\u00f3n que no se pueden encontrar en ning\u00fan otro lugar del mundo, como elefantes de bosque, gorilas de tierras bajas y de monta\u00f1a, y okapis, un mam\u00edfero \u00fanico que quiz\u00e1s se describe mejor como una mezcla entre una jirafa y una cebra. Tambi\u00e9n hay 400 especies de mam\u00edferos, m\u00e1s de 600 especies de \u00e1rboles, 10.000 especies de animales, 1.000 especies de aves y 700 especies de peces, incluyendo fauna en peligro de extinci\u00f3n como elefantes de bosque, chimpanc\u00e9s y bonobos. (Atlas Mundial). <\/span><\/p>

8. \u00bfQu\u00e9 se puede hacer para detener la deforestaci\u00f3n y la destrucci\u00f3n del h\u00e1bitat?<\/span>.  <\/span><\/p>

– <\/span>Para limitar la tala, se debe facultar a las comunidades locales y a los organismos p\u00fablicos para que apliquen las leyes ya existentes, como la restricci\u00f3n de la exportaci\u00f3n de troncos no procesados aprobada en el Congo en 2020 (Forest Trends). Adem\u00e1s, las iniciativas regionales deben apuntar a los actores industriales y las empresas madereras globales.  <\/span><\/p>

– <\/span>La corrupci\u00f3n en el Ministerio de Medio Ambiente ha obstaculizado la implementaci\u00f3n de las leyes de tala, por lo tanto, otros departamentos adem\u00e1s del Ministerio de Medio Ambiente deber\u00edan involucrarse en los asuntos forestales.  <\/span><\/p>

– <\/span>Adem\u00e1s, el desarrollo <\/span>de un mecanismo de financiaci\u00f3n a largo plazo para la Gesti\u00f3n Forestal Independiente en la Cuenca del Congo (IFM), financiaci\u00f3n de energ\u00eda limpia\/renovable para reducir la tala de \u00e1rboles para combustible de madera, valoraci\u00f3n y medici\u00f3n de los servicios ecosist\u00e9micos forestales para ayudar a reconocer el valor de los bosques. <\/span><\/p>

– <\/span>Las agencias de desarrollo global deber\u00edan considerar planes de desarrollo alternativo para reducir la pobreza en los pa\u00edses de la cuenca del Congo, que es otra causa de la deforestaci\u00f3n. <\/span><\/p>
