{"id":17797,"date":"2026-07-22T00:59:39","date_gmt":"2026-07-22T00:59:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/globalgreens.org\/?post_type=news_statement&#038;p=17797"},"modified":"2026-07-29T16:52:51","modified_gmt":"2026-07-29T16:52:51","slug":"17797","status":"publish","type":"news_statement","link":"https:\/\/globalgreens.org\/fre\/news_statement\/17797\/","title":{"rendered":"Statement by Global Greens regarding the arrest and sentencing of Mr. Badono Daigou"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">English\/Spanish\/French-Statement by Global Greens regarding the arrest and imprisonment of Mr.Daigou<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-essential-blocks-advanced-image  root-eb-advanced-image-lbjvc\"><div class=\"eb-parent-wrapper eb-parent-eb-advanced-image-lbjvc\"><figure class=\"eb-advanced-image-wrapper eb-advanced-image-lbjvc no-effect\" data-id=\"eb-advanced-image-lbjvc\"><div class=\"eb-image-wrapper\"><div class=\"eb-image-wrapper-inner eb-img-style-rounded\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/globalgreens.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/unnamed.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/div><\/div><\/figure><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Anglais<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Statement by Global Greens regarding the arrest and sentencing of Mr. Badono Daigou, President of \u201cUnion des Ecologistes Tchadiens\u201d (the Green Party of Chad), and other opposition leaders in Chad<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is with deep concern and great dismay that Global Greens (GG) learned of the arrest on Saturday, April 25, 2026, and the subsequent eight-year prison sentence handed down to Mr. DAIGOU Badono,President of \u201cUnion des Ecologistes Tchadiens\u201d (the Green Party of Chad), along with seven (7) other opposition political leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In light of the reported circumstances surrounding these arrests and judicial proceedings, Global Greens expresses its serious concern and calls upon the authorities of the Republic of Chad to ensure that the rights of all those detained are fully respected, including their rights to due process, legal representation, and a fair and transparent judicial process, consistent with Chad&#8217;s national laws and international human rights obligations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An independent justice system is a cornerstone of democracy. Therefore, the transparent and impartial application of the law must prevail in situations of this kind.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Consequently, the Global Greens:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Calls for the immediate and unconditional release of Mr. Badono Daigou and all other opposition leaders following their unwarranted arrest and maltreatment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Condemns the conditions under which the Green Party President, DAIGOU Badono, and his companions were arrested and imprisoned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Calls upon the Chadian authorities to guarantee and uphold the judicial and humanitarian rights of all those arrested.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Urges Governments and Political Parties worldwide to work towards ensuring that justice prevails in Chad.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Expresses solidarity with all those striving to establish and maintain a genuine democracy in Africa.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Global Greens expresses solidarity with the Green Party members and families of those arrested. We stand in solidarity with all those working around the world to uphold human rights and democratic principles and procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Espagnol<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Declaraci\u00f3n de Global Greens sobre la detenci\u00f3n y la condena del Sr. Badono Daigou, presidente de la \u00abUnion des Ecologistes Tchadiens\u00bb (el Partido Verde de Chad), y de otros l\u00edderes de la oposici\u00f3n en Chad<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Global Greens (GG) ha recibido con profunda preocupaci\u00f3n y gran consternaci\u00f3n la noticia de la detenci\u00f3n, el s\u00e1bado 25 de abril de 2026, y la posterior condena a ocho a\u00f1os de prisi\u00f3n impuesta al Sr. DAIGOU Badono, presidente de la \u00abUnion des Ecologistes Tchadiens\u00bb (el Partido Verde de Chad), junto con otros siete (7) l\u00edderes pol\u00edticos de la oposici\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A la luz de las circunstancias descritas en torno a estas detenciones y procedimientos judiciales, Global Greens expresa su profunda preocupaci\u00f3n y hace un llamamiento a las autoridades de la Rep\u00fablica del Chad para que garanticen el pleno respeto de los derechos de todas las personas detenidas, incluidos sus derechos a un proceso con las debidas garant\u00edas, a la representaci\u00f3n legal y a un proceso judicial justo y transparente, de conformidad con la legislaci\u00f3n nacional del Chad y sus obligaciones internacionales en materia de derechos humanos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Un sistema judicial independiente es una piedra angular de la democracia. Por lo tanto, en situaciones de este tipo debe prevalecer la aplicaci\u00f3n transparente e imparcial de la ley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En consecuencia, Global Greens:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Exige la puesta en libertad inmediata e incondicional del Sr. Badono Daigou y de todos los dem\u00e1s l\u00edderes de la oposici\u00f3n tras su detenci\u00f3n injustificada y los malos tratos sufridos.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Condena las condiciones en las que el presidente del Partido Verde, DAIGOU Badono, y sus compa\u00f1eros fueron detenidos y encarcelados.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Insta a las autoridades chadianas a que garanticen y respeten los derechos judiciales y humanitarios de todas las personas detenidas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Insta a los gobiernos y a los partidos pol\u00edticos de todo el mundo a que trabajen para garantizar que prevalezca la justicia en Chad.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Expresa su solidaridad con todos aquellos que luchan por establecer y mantener una democracia aut\u00e9ntica en \u00c1frica.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Global Greens expresa su solidaridad con los miembros del Partido Verde y con las familias de los detenidos. Badono Daigou, pr\u00e9sident de l\u2019\u00ab Union des \u00e9cologistes tchadiens \u00bb (le Parti vert du Tchad), et d\u2019autres dirigeants de l\u2019opposition au Tchad<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">C\u2019est avec une profonde inqui\u00e9tude et une grande consternation que Global Greens (GG) a appris l\u2019arrestation, le samedi 25 avril 2026, puis la condamnation \u00e0 huit ans de prison prononc\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019encontre de M. DAIGOU Badono, pr\u00e9sident de l\u2019\u00ab Union des \u00c9cologistes Tchadiens \u00bb (le Parti vert du Tchad), ainsi que de sept (7) autres dirigeants politiques de l\u2019opposition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Au vu des circonstances rapport\u00e9es concernant ces arrestations et ces proc\u00e9dures judiciaires, Global Greens exprime sa vive pr\u00e9occupation et appelle les autorit\u00e9s de la R\u00e9publique du Tchad \u00e0 veiller \u00e0 ce que les droits de toutes les personnes d\u00e9tenues soient pleinement respect\u00e9s, y compris leurs droits \u00e0 une proc\u00e9dure r\u00e9guli\u00e8re, \u00e0 une repr\u00e9sentation juridique et \u00e0 un proc\u00e8s \u00e9quitable et transparent, conform\u00e9ment \u00e0 la l\u00e9gislation nationale tchadienne et aux obligations internationales en mati\u00e8re de droits de l\u2019homme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Un syst\u00e8me judiciaire ind\u00e9pendant est l\u2019un des piliers de la d\u00e9mocratie. Par cons\u00e9quent, l\u2019application transparente et impartiale de la loi doit pr\u00e9valoir dans ce type de situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En cons\u00e9quence, Global Greens :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Appelle \u00e0 la lib\u00e9ration imm\u00e9diate et inconditionnelle de M. Badono Daigou et de tous les autres dirigeants de l\u2019opposition, suite \u00e0 leur arrestation injustifi\u00e9e et aux mauvais traitements qu\u2019ils ont subis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Condamnent les conditions dans lesquelles le pr\u00e9sident du Parti vert, DAIGOU Badono, et ses compagnons ont \u00e9t\u00e9 arr\u00eat\u00e9s et emprisonn\u00e9s.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Appellent les autorit\u00e9s tchadiennes \u00e0 garantir et \u00e0 respecter les droits judiciaires et humanitaires de toutes les personnes arr\u00eat\u00e9es.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exhortent les gouvernements et les partis politiques du monde entier \u00e0 \u0153uvrer pour que la justice pr\u00e9vale au Tchad.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exprime sa solidarit\u00e9 avec tous ceux qui luttent pour instaurer et maintenir une v\u00e9ritable d\u00e9mocratie en Afrique.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Global Greens exprime sa solidarit\u00e9 avec les membres du Parti vert et les familles des personnes arr\u00eat\u00e9es.
