Dominic Wy Kanak – Australian Greens APGF Councillor and Blak Greens

Dominic gives Respect to Elders and Country and Family as an Indigenous Torres Strait Islander of Erub’ and South Sea ‘Epi’ Heritage, born on Yuwibara Country.

Dominic is currently a Local Government Councillor for the Australian Greens for the Waverly Council in Sydney, previously being Deputy Mayor for Waverly. Dominic has been the APGF Councillor for AG since November 2022 and is an International Co-Secretary for the same period. Dominic is a Blak Greens delegate ( the First Nations Network for the Australian Greens) to the National Council and is interested in assisting with growing the Global Greens Indigenous and Tribal Peoples Network. He has attended the last two Global Greens Congresses and is a current member of the AG International Development Committee

He is working to progress the Global Greens First Nations Indigenous Network following the Global Greens Congress Resolution of support in 2023. As the coConvenor of the Australian Greens First Nations Network his Greens work has also been involved in the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues and Australian New South Wales Local Government as a Councillor serving the Community since 1999 til 2024.
