Transitional Justice in Africa


  • the fragility of African democracies in which a democratic change of government is still causing problems;
  • the numerous human rights violations for which various régimes are responsible;
  • the frequent recourse to coups d’etat to achieve régime change, on the one hand, and as simply a means of gaining power, on the other hand;

Convinced that setting up sustainable democracy, without reprisals, requires political compromises;

This Global Greens Congress:

Calls upon the Global Greens Coordination, through the continental Federations, to explore the path of ‘transitional justice’ ordained by the United Nations in order to arrive at national reconciliation to restore peace and install sustainable democracy in all countries.
